12 / 24 V @ 10 Amps Solar Lighting Controller

Application

A complete Solar Lighting Controller used to charge the battery during the day, turn on a light at night. This unit with its fused battery and intergal LVD and day night sensor as well a remote control capability is a complete solar lighting control system.

Model: LS-2

Features

  • Single unit 12V/24V systems. Also a 48V model.
  • Optional temperature compensation (-4mv / deg C./cell) on battery voltage setpoints.
  • Motion sensor interface to control light on/off by movement.
  • User Adjustable battery charge setpoint and LVD setpoint.
  • Remote trigger for remote on/off timing so the unit light can turn on and off several times during the night.
  • 10 seconds time delay on panel voltage sensing - is it daylight or a passing car?
  • Internal 10 amp MPPT / PWM Charge Controller.
  • Adjustable 0 hr. to 16 hr. internal timer set by external resistor

Basic Operation

This Solar Light Controller charge controls the battery by day to a user selected voltage and then at night, turns on the light until the battery discharges to a user defined voltage. It includes a panel sensor to determine "nighttime", provision for a trigger signal and for external on/off control, as well as an adjustable internal timer for "Max." on time, and interface to a motion sensor to turn the light on if a person walks nearby.

Sequence of Operation - Day time:

  1. Unit charges with Maximum Power Point tracking and PWM Charge control to user defined battery voltage. The panel sensor keeps the light off during day hours.

Sequence of Operation - Night time:

  1. The panel sensor turns on the light and sends trigger signal to external controller and external timer if used.
  2. The light stays on until:
    1. The battery low setpoint voltage is reached - no power left.
    2. Turned off by the panel sensor - daylight sensed.
    3. Turned off by external control - an external controller or simple on/off switch.
    4. Turned off by internal timer set by resistor setting.
  3. After light turns off from nighttime timer, motion sensor control will turn light back on when motion detected for adjustable time interval provided it is still night time.
