Charging Battery DesulphatorApplication
Basic OperationThis unit is a 3 amp charge controller married with a battery desulphator. It is used to recover a a badly sulphated battery or to maintain a battery in storage for a significant time.Charge Controller Section: The charge Controller is a 12 V @3 amp nominal MPPT that can take as an input a 30 W solar panel or a 20 - 40 VA 16 V Class 2 transfomer (Doorbell transformer) and charge control a 12 V nominal Lead acid Battery. It includes battery fusing. Its output is pure DC and it will maintain a charge on the batery. Desulphator section: Sulphite crystals form when the battery charge is reduced and/or the discharge/ discharge cycles are not well suited for the battery. These sulphite crystals act as insulators to the flow of electricity in the battery, seriously degrading the capability of the battery to have electricity flow in it, reducing its charging and discharge capability. Like most battery desulphators, this unit uses a sharp pulse of current
forced into the battery suddenly to "jar" the sulphite crystals and cause
internal resonances, both mechanical and electrical, to grind down the
sulphite crystals that form so they can be re-combined into the battery acid. With the high quality charge controller, this unit can desulphate and recover a very dead battery. In our testing it has recovered a number of car type batteries left in landfill for over 3 years. Note: It will not recover batteries that have other ailments to then, ex shorted cells, lack of acid etc. Features
